Impetuous Theater Group presents the New York premiere of
Timberlake Wertenbaker's, "After Darwin."
From the author of "Our Country's Good" (winner of the 1988 Olivier Award for Best New Play, and nominated for Six Tony Awards-- including Best Play).
"After Darwin" is a play about Captain Robert FitzRoy of the HMS Beagle (a scientist and fundamentalist Christian) who sailed a young Charles Darwin around the world only to have his successful circumnavigation 'cumulate into Darwin's theories of Evolution-- altering humanity's perception of itself and forever separating science from faith. Educating and entertaining, in turns dramatic and funny, Wertenbaker's play subtly tells the story of how Darwin became "Darwin", and what happens "After" as a cast of modern actors struggle to balance survival with morality while rehearsing a play about FitzRoy and Darwin's "Voyage of the Beagle."
Like Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, "After Darwin" leads its audience through difficult concepts, scarcely allowing us to catch our breath before offering another idea for our consideration. After Darwin is everything good theatre should be -thought provoking, quality entertainment." - Grania McFadden, Belfast Telegraph
